Some notes about climbing
General
- Warm up
- Climb as quietly as possible (footwork)
- Don’t forget to smear foot into the wall for balance
- Hips / center of gravity close to the wall
- Think about how to hold the handholds (direction, grip)
- Try to have opposite hand and foot be on contact with the wall.
Flagging

- Outside flag: flag using opposite foot of the hand you are moving.
- Back flag: same side hand and foot, to avoid barn door.
- Inside flag: Very rarely used, use when same side hand and foot, but the foot too low for a back flag.
Bouldering
- If cant get on, start away from the wall and add momentum
- Stand at the edge of the foothold, to lift the other foot easier
Supplemental training / Injury prevention
- Pull ups / push ups / squats
- Flexibility training
- Leave finger strength training for later
